The paleo diet has been around for a while, but maybe you’re just now thinking about trying it. Many people set goals or make resolutions at the start of the year to try a new way of eating, so if the paleo diet is something you’re new to, then I’ve got a special treat for you.

A new diet can be overwhelming, especially if you have a family to feed. But I have chosen a variety of simple recipes for a whole week and put together a paleo weekly meal plan complete with a shopping list. Hopefully this meal plan will help introduce you to the paleo way of eating and give you some new recipe ideas!

Note: Very simply, the paleo diet is a diet that includes fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, and various oils and nuts. Those on the paleo diet avoid grains, legumes, dairy, refined sugar, and processed food (see The Mayo Clinic information about the Paleo diet). Some on the paleo diet avoid potatoes, but many do include them, so I’ve included them on this meal plan. Also, some go even further and only eat completely organic food or only grass-fed meat. You are of course free to do that, but many proponents say you will still experience the benefits of the diet just by cutting out the things listed above to avoid. The Whole30 diet is a more extreme version of the paleo diet, and my husband and I both lost weight trying that for a month while eating just the regular, store brand versions of all the food.

Paleo Weekly Meal Plan

This meal plan includes recipes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some of them you’ll double or triple the recipe, and some make enough from just one recipe to give you leftovers. I tried to do a mix of leftovers and new recipes, as I know that not everyone loves leftovers!

All of these recipes were linked from the Prudent Penny Pincher’s 200 Cheap and Easy Paleo Recipes, so go check out that post if you’re looking for more ideas after you’ve tried all the recipes in this paleo weekly meal plan.

Here’s a quick rundown of the recipes that are included in the meal plan and the adjustments I made to make them even cheaper. In many cases, I have you omit fresh herbs from the recipes, but you are of course welcome to include them if you want!

Another note: Zucchini noodles can easily be made with a spiralizer, but if you don’t have one and don’t want to buy one, you can just serve the meatballs over regular sliced zucchini!

Now what you’ve been waiting for: the full plan and shopping list! The shopping list also includes the items I was assuming you already have in your pantry. Make sure you have these items on hand before going to the store.
