Weekly Weigh In

This past week I worked my tail off on trying to exercise and watch what I ate.  It was a banner week.  I even got up Saturday morning and worked out in the garage (I can’t tell you the last time I did that).  I had 5 good days of exercise and was great about tracking everything I ate.  Hard work pays off and I finally lost weight again after a 5-6 week plateau!!  I am down 2 lbs over last week!

I celebrated by waking up and running with my girls.  I can see the goal in site of being at 175 by the end of next week for the Becoming Conference and am sticking strong to all my goals from last week.

Kicking back into Nutrisystem high gear I think was the biggest help for me.  I think I’d gotten a little lax on my portion sizes, I know I’d fallen behind on tracking.  So measuring out any vegetables I did myself and eating their meals/bars kept me accountable all week.

I have a big hurdle this week that I’m hoping won’t slow me down.  For the first time since having children (11 +years) my husband and I are going to the beach for 2 nights by ourselves.  I’m speaking at a convention and they paid for my room and travel so all it took was convincing some wonderful grandparents to step in and make it a little get away.  My husband and I both enjoy food, and I don’t want to be the stingy calorie counting freak for our two days away, so I’m trying to give myself pep talks all week to make good choices while we are there.

This weeks numbers:

Starting Weight (19 weeks ago): 202
Last Week: 179.6
Current Weight: 177.6
Goal Weight: 165

I also splurged this week and got a new toy.  After researching them for ages and sitting on the fence I decided to get a new Bluetooth Scale.  It sounded fun just as a gadget but I kept coming back to not really seeing why I needed my scale to sync to my phone, so I would hold off on it.  This week I started researching again and kinda on a whim I went for it.  In the end it’s my new favorite gadget and definitely holds you more accountable…

Every time you step on the scale it tracks your weight, hydration levels, muscle, fat, bone mass, BMI and a few other things.  That’s nifty, but really the big part here is that it tracks you.  I can’t step on the scale and just brush off the 1/2 pound increase.  It’s not just me that sees it.  The phone sees it, that links directly to Apple Health app and that goes straight to my fitness pal.  Everything knows the 1/2 pound gain…

Here’s the data on my graph this week:

yunmai scale

I realized that weighing after dinner is not acceptable on Thursday evening… but all the others were very helpful and motivating.  This morning I didn’t want to run but seeing a half pound increase over Saturday got me in my running shoes.

The scale that I choose is a Yunmai Smart Scale.  It’s $50 which is able $80 cheaper than most of the other bluetooth counter parts.  While it doesn’t link directly to Myfitnesspal like some do, as long as you link it to the My Health Apple app it will seamlessly link to anything else you have My Health linked with.  It makes it the perfect go-between so you don’t have to pay $130 for a scale!  It does have it’s own app too that shows you all your data for 10 different measurements each time you step on the scale, the app is available for android and ios users.  I’m not sure on linking to MyFitnesspal for android users but I have a feeling there is a simple work around for you too.

For me this was like getting a new pair of shoes.  It’s been a great motivator to move more, eat less and drink more water!   My goal this week to drink enough to get my hydration level out of the low category…
